[ how long has it been since sabo's had a chance to have the time to spend time with books and not feel pressured to find specific types of information? who knows, probably an unfortunate amount of time, but that's just how life goes sometimes. maybe there's something fortunate about being unwillingly brought to a strange place with strange people.
he doesn't exactly know what he's going to find as he browses the books and will help himself to a book here and there with titles that stand out to him. no theme among them. typically sabo would have no reason to bother anyone he comes upon in a library but given the circumstances... it's a bit different. so, when he sees graha he'll make himself known, at the very least. ]
I suppose finding books about this place would take a bit if fun out of things.
[ if it was okay to think of this as something fun...?? sabo will laugh at the alternatives to anything useful, though. ]
But finding so many recipes might come in handy for a few individuals here. [ what is the best way to say this... ] I've noticed that not everyone here has experience with cooking.
[ honestly, there's something genuinely funny about how few of the people here can cook, and as such, the laughter that follows is definitely louder than appropriate for a library. ]
Perhaps if we end up staying here for longer than a week, it might be good for us to figure out where all of our talents are skills lie.
[ If they were in Sharlayan, he might have panicked (only slightly!) or kindly asked him to lower his volume, but here? Here, the boisterous laughter is welcome. It feels familiar in a way that only that sort of thing can. ]
Fortunately, for many here, I can. [ does this mean that sabo will be on kitchen duty? who knows... probably not. ] Don't ask me to make anything fancy but I can make plenty of simple dishes.
[ to be a little cheeky but half-serious: ]
And does this mean that I can ask you to help me gather information about everyone's more practical skillset and abilities if it comes to it?
[ given the announcement and show that ish put on for them earlier this morning, sabo has taken time to process things in his own way. ...what that exactly translates into, he's not going to share, but when g'raha finds him (or he finds g'raha), he'll have a sunny disposition both in the literal sense with the sun above his head and the small smile on his face.
admittedly, he'll be speaking to a chicken that he's knelt before, curious to see how friendly it is. the chicken hasn't committed any crimes and thus will be free from sabo's ire. so far, sabo has found the chicken to be friendly enough as it scratches at the dirt in front of him. ]
[ A sunny disposition. How admirable. Even G'raha can't manifest something like that in the sea of optimism that rests in his heart, his own emotions manifesting as a partly cloudy sky. ]
It has made me wonder... hog long have we been here?
[ it's probably better that g'raha can't muster the same kind of cheer that sabo can. the source of sabo's sun sure is tied up with a mess of other things; nevertheless, he shines on. ]
Long enough for there to be a chance for a different outcome than there had been previously.
[ sabo will pet a chicken. ]
Which means that the possibilities of years isn't out of the question.
[ That bright sunlight is necessary in a place like this, he thinks. What are they to do if they don't have some sort of brightness to look towards? ]
My thoughts as well. Ish's reaction suggests that he'd been enjoying success for at least a while. Given the breadth of his abilities, I would not be surprised if a mistake occurred after several years.
[ hewwo g'raha... as one could expect, today ended no better than it did previously—not that it was the outcome that he wanted to see. the ideal was to see unexpected things happen. unfortunately as it is, they were all faced with the reality of the situation.
an answer given about something that they didn't want to ask, and now here are two nerds misplaced in the observatory. ]
Another somber way to conclude the week.
[ two people dead, a library burnt to ashes, and a witch who was still "enjoying" themselves as far as they're making themselves out to. but, clearly, there are some who have gotten closer to the ones who lost their lives than others. ]
[ He's fiddling with the telescope when Sabo comes to find him, looking at its specifications to see what he can look forward to later that night. ]
Ah, 'tis good to see you friend.
[ He smiles, a slightly somber note to it. ]
I will be. There is nothing else we can do but press forward, after all. I believe it would be a waste to let go of the opportunity Siffrin afforded us.
[ Because that's what he's choosing to see all of this misery as—an opportunity that they can use to give themselves an advantage. ]
Powerful words. [ sabo will chuckle lightly but with warmth. ] Certainly ones that a lot of people might benefit from hearing after how things have gone today.
[ and while sabo does want to give them time to further process what had happened, there are only so many people that sabo feels as though they could help him better understand about these things. ]
...there was that gold again. [ he means about what cut through from the mirror and brought everything back(?). ] Not the same as the one from the card but similar enough.
I was thinking the same... [ sabo's voice trails for a moment as he chews on the idea longer. it fits. it works out. but?? ] ...but could it also be the magic that binds him or the rest of us to our predicament?
[ he doesn't have a reason for thinking this other than a feeling. it doesn't feel right. ]
During a conversation that I had with him, he implied that some of the cost to him for casting one of his spells was to sacrifice some of his memories. As hard as it is to pin him down for answers, it didn't seem like he was familiar with the scene that had played out when I activated the card.
And to his words, all spells must be paid with a price... Perhaps some of the price he paid prevents certain things from happening.
[ you know, like dying? ish has used magic before; plenty of times in front of them, but had it been golden? ]
who knows the exact place that sabo finds g'raha but he does want to find him after everything that occurred between ayaka, richard, shiv, and siffrin. while sabo had no real ties to what happened, he did speak out to those who did the crime.
where he be in the tea room and wandered somewhere else, somehow sabo (as a hat) will find his way. ]
How are you, G'raha? [ ... ] As inappropriate as that question feels to me now.
[ the positivity doesn't completely go away even if the next words that come out of his mouth are tied to a more muted voice. he is, at the end of the day, here for g'raha. ]
Given their frustrations and the injustice that they felt—I suppose it shouldn't have been entirely a shock. Though, I do wish that they could have saved it until later.
[ he sighs and would shake his head if it were possible. ]
Not that I don't understand Siffrin's and Siobhan's anger.
I might have lost myself to my anger as well if I were in their position, however—
[ urianger might have said this out-loud and to siffrin themselves, but sabo also felt this and internalized it during the entire scene. he doesn't have the right to criticize siffrin given that he's on amicable terms with his killer. ]
Adding another injury, another potential death... It would just cause more headaches and troubles. Our situation isn't one where we should be adding to it.
[ not that sabo would ever say this, but he did give up so much so that they would be given a better chance of getting out of all of this. ]

Oh, hello. Find anything particularly interesting?

You can count me among that number, I fear.

It has made me wonder... hog long have we been here?
hog....
Long enough for there to be a chance for a different outcome than there had been previously.

hog long.........

hong.....
After seeing the results time and time again over the course of several years... Given his supposed goals, it doesn't make any sense—not to me.
[ doing the same thing over and over...? he says it's about the deaths but— ]
I think that whatever is happening now is what he has been truly looking for after all of this time. A cycle where we remember.

[ Hmmmm. ]
I wonder if our memories could increase the potency of a spell.
[ It would make sense, that's for certain. ]

Then I believe we can consider that a signature of his magic.
[ Gold, in a contrast to all of his purple. ]
Which all but confirms that the card is very much connected to his magic.

Did he also lose his memories of the loops much like ourselves? I have to wonder...
